Review: Wrecked by Shiloh Walker

After reading the 5th book in this series, I had to come back and start at the beginning . . . where it all began. Oddly enough, it isn't with the oldest Barnes brother. Instead Zach Barnes, former TV series child star is all grown up now. He wants nothing to do with Hollywood except for one little thing . . . Abigale Applegate.

The story starts off with a bang. Abigale Applegate's fiancé decides that the relationship isn't "working" for him. The more we learn about this asshat, the more my blood boils. It is very clear that he is only "in the relationship" for one thing . . . Abigale's fame and fortune. Too bad Abigale left that all behind and doesn't want to have anything to do with it.

I liked Abigale. In some ways, she reminds me of Mayim Bialik whom I absolutely adore. Abigale's life as a childhood star gives insight into the ugly side of Hollywood. It is understandable that she wanted out. With an out of control childhood, she grows up into a control freak. I say this with the utmost respect because I love seeing her to-do list and her plans. As a planner, her character quirks appeal to me. She runs a catering business and she is happy to keep it that way. I admire her for deciding what makes her happy. She has a new passion. Well, a work passion. With being jilted, it is finally Zach's chance to make a move. His unrequited love is what romance stories are all about. Sometimes, the best of friends hesitant to make any change because they don't want to lose that best friend.

Abigale and Zach's change in relationship makes for a tumultuous whirlwind affair that keeps Abigale unsettled and unsteady. It is nice to see her being less rigid and going with the flow. Zach is the sweetest guy too. I love everything about him. This is definitely recommended to romance readers who love the friends to lover theme.
