Review: Collision Course by Michelle Diener

With the increase of AI in our world, this series with sentient AI always intrigues me. This is a return of Rose and Sazo. This book can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading the series in order for the best experience.

A story returning to Rose and her upcoming delivery has me riveted. I devoured this book in one sitting. Then I went back and re-read my favourite parts. There is something about an all powerful being who is willing to burn up a world for you that is just romantic for my inner goth. Is it right to condone this kind of behaviour? Probably not, but I still appreciate it.

I love how this story continues to demonstrate how to not underestimate a mere mortal female. Rose is a troublesome kidnap victim because she doesn't "know her role". Specifically she doesn't accept she is a victim and she does something about it. The shenanigans she gets herself into delights me. She should teach an advance course on "how to win friends and confound your enemies". Rose is not a super hero and yet the feats she accomplishes are beyond heroic.

What I enjoy about Ms. Diener's stories is her character development and the tension she builds in her plots. This story moves along at a rapid fire pace with nail biting suspense at times. Maybe I'm more tense because of my younger friends going through pregnancy right now and how many have been in dire straits. I also like how this author does not go overboard with demonizing an opposing side. Returning to the world of Class 5 is a wonderful escape from the doldrums of every day work. I highly recommend this latest addition as well as the entire series for a look into how sentient beings can bridge cultural differences and come together.

* I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
