Review: Archangel's Lineage by Nalini Singh

Emotional and pivotal, returning to this series is always exciting. Elena's character growth since we first met her as a hunter is phenomenal. This story is all about closing old wounds and moving forward with new challenges. Learning about Elena and how she survived as a child is heartbreaking. I love her even more for what she is now. What hit me hard about this story is I read it right as my father ended up with an emergency life saving open heart surgery.

The feelings and regrets Elena's father experienced as he heals from his health scare are similar to what my father felt. The first two weeks post operation, my father said many things to me similar to what Elena's father shared with her. For this I will always remember this book because of the parallels between Elena's experience and mine. Maudlin thoughts aside, a new character emerges from this series! And just at the right time too! This ancient is a big bad and totally questionable in his motivations. He is the definition of antihero.

What this means is that of course I'm intrigued! I also like learning about this "knowledge" all Archangels are supposed to know. Whilst sometimes it is good to forget the past, there are other times where it is critical to know the reason why we do things and also certain knowledge is critical to past down. I found so many relatable moments in this story. It is well written and thought provoking. The characters are engaging and the situation these characters find them in are dire. I like it!

This urban fantasy is recommended to readers who enjoy reconciliation themes along with angst and sacrifice.
